| First Snow of the New Millennium |
| Wow! One day to go till the new millennium will start counting its minutes, hours, days… While we're waiting for the New Year party, its good to know where the New Year's night will be filled with even more "party joy" - snowing. The question is now solved by "weather people". And today we can say what cities are going to be the first in the new millennium where the snow will make this holiday even more fun than ever. I made some research today and now I'm going to share with you with this list of "snow capitals" of the world. We are going to specify our topic here a little bit and tell you about cities in which the snowstorms are expected. First of all, as my friend (who is a weatherman) told me today, on December 30, weather in the whole world became warmer today. So, that means the only countries in which are going to snow too much are U.S., Canada and some North parts of Russia Federation. United States' Snowstorms on Dec 31, 2000 - Jan 1, 2001 Night 10 cm of snow are expected in Chicago. Approximately 15 cm are going to be in Aspen and New York. Canada's Snowstorms on Dec 31, 2000 - Jan 1, 2001 Night Canada is more complicated because we expect too much snow here in almost all parts of Canada. But we can highlight some major cities. They are going to be: - Montreal and Ottawa with 50 cm of snow. These cities are going to be covered with snow and it will continue till the first afternoon of the third millennium. - Vancouver is waiting for at least 75 cm of snow! Europe's Snowstorms on Dec 31, 2000 - Jan 1, 2001 Night Here the situation is simpler. Only Russia will suffer from heavy snowing this New Year night. Moscow, the capital of Russia is expecting for 30 cm of snow. In fact, it will just add more snow because Moscow is covered with 30 cm snow since Dec 28. At the end of this article I just want to add that while writing this story, the snow in Montreal started at approximately 7.30 p.m. on Dec 30! And this snow, according to weather forecast, will continue till the January 1, 2001, afternoon. I wish you good luck and Happy New Year! |
