CROSSING JORDAN’S KEN HOWARD & THE PRACTICE’S MICHAEL BADALUCCO UNVEIL THE BOSTON MOVIE MILE A BRAND NEW ATTRACTION IN BOSTON

Boston, July 20, 2005 – Tony Award-winning actor Ken Howard (Crossing Jordan, The White Shadow) and Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Badalucco (The Practice, Bewitched) officially unveiled the City of Boston’s newest attraction, The Boston Movie MileSM, at a press conference and ceremonial film reel cutting at Cheers in Beacon Hill today. This brand new walking tour, which highlights the locations made famous by more than 30 popular movies and television shows set in Boston, provides visitors with an opportunity to experience Boston through Hollywood’s eyes.

The Boston Movie Mile is the most filmed section of Boston spotlighting renowned locations from the Massachusetts State House through historic Beacon Hill and the picturesque Public Garden. Experienced Hollywood Tour Guides provide in-depth, behind the scenes trivia on many of the set-in-Boston films and television shows, as well as the celebrities who starred in them.

- Learn insider information and fun facts about famed TV shows such as Emmy Award-winning dramas Cheers, Ally McBeal, Boston Public and The Practice, or smash hit movies such as Mystic River, Legally Blonde, The Firm, A Civil Action and The Thomas Crown Affair.
- Have a drink at the Bull & Finch Pub, the inspiration for Cheers.
- Sit on the famous park bench from Good Will Hunting.
- Explore the street of the famous Blown Away runaway car crash.

“Movie buffs love to know more about their favorite films and the actors who starred in them,” says Jeff Coveney, Boston Movie Tours founder. “Whether you are visiting Boston or have lived here for years, it is still a thrill to stand at the exact location where a famous movie was shot or where a movie star strolled.”

The Bull & Finch Pub became Boston’s top destination when the Emmy Award-winning TV series Cheers used the Boston bar as the inspiration for the setting of the beloved TV sitcom. From blockbusters such as Mystic River and Good Will Hunting to classics such as The Verdict, and The Thomas Crown Affair, Boston has long been a favorite of Hollywood producers.

“The Boston Movie Mile tour is a unique walking tour that showcases Boston as one of Hollywood's preferred locations and will help us promote Boston as a top visitor destination,” commented Patrick Moscaritolo, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“As the ‘Cradle of liberty’ and home to some of the greatest universities, hospitals, museums and rock bands in the world, Boston will now be able to showcase the over 400 movies and TV shows that were filmed here,” said Boston City Council President Michael F. Flaherty. “I look forward to walking the Boston Movie Mile tour with my family and invite all Bostonians to do the same.”

Later this summer, Boston Movie Tours will also offer custom Theater-on-Wheels™ tours for private groups. Whether it is stopping by the location of the fictitious Emerald Bar from Mystic River or visiting the L Street Tavern from Good Will Hunting, these tours are perfect for private parties, family gatherings, school trips or company outings. Groups can customize Theater-on-Wheels tours to visit exclusive movie locations outside of Boston and throughout Massachusetts.

“Good Will Hunting fans continue to stop by our tavern,” says Susan Woods, L Street Tavern owner. “This tour is a great way movie enthusiasts can get a taste of Boston movie making history.”
