Hello out there to TheWorldJournal.com Nation! Welcome once again to the eighth installment of the FRANKIE FEEDBACK column series entitled “Requiem of a Moviekiller”. Nothing has changed per se in terms of any surprises—as movie fans you get to express your sentiments pertaining to my latest assessment on film in general. I realize it’s very therapeutic for folks to lash out in defense of their favorite and/or sentimental cinema selections. However, this forum is for those how may not necessarily to eye to eye with yours truly. And that’s fine with me. Anyway, ALL feedback is welcomed so let’s get to the crutch of the matter, shall we?

And now for Frankie Feedback (Part 8) “Requiem of a Moviekiller”:

Comments to Frank about his review on 13 Going on 30:

Vivian Jackson writes: “Great movie”

Frank’s response: “I wouldn’t get too carried away by labeling this feminine fantasy as “great” since this is such an overused word. But I will contend that 13 Going on 30 is definitely a tolerable tale in the tradition of the Tom Hanks’s vehicle Big. And it is more enjoyable than the usual fare of teen flicks dealing with the gimmicky “out of body” experience.”

Comments to Frank about his penchant for receiving hate mail:

Ethan K. writes: “Hilarious! Wouldn't imagine you'd get so much hate mail, especially since I enjoy your reviews. Keep up the great writing!”

Frank’s response: “Finally, a sensible and complimentary sheep among the frustrated flock! (smile) Ethan, I do appreciate your amazement at all the ruffled feathers that seem to fling their resentment at me pertaining to my critiques. As I have always stated previously, this act of stringing up the messenger over the honest message he’s trying to bring to the movie masses has its ups and downs. Evidently for some dissatisfied readers out there, I seem to infuriate more than I inform in my write-ups. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Contrary to the constant static that I receive about my movie reviewing, I still manage to get a good night’s sleep regardless. In the words of yesteryear’s cinema’s favorite old-fashioned tease Doris Day, “Que sera, que sera--whatever will be, will be!”

Comments to Frank about his review of DAWN OF THE DEAD:

Kalah writes: "Finally Frank, you actually like a movie that is from the U.S! Good job on not being so negative all of the time. Keep it up film loser--Oh that was in a good way--don't worry."

Frank’s response: "Kalah, has anyone told you that you have the creative wit of a sleep deprived Catskill comedian hooked on sour milk? I am serious gal when I say that you need some immediate therapy for your inexplicable hostility"

Comments made to Frank about his review on HELLBOY:

Bess Matuszewski writes: "This guy needs to throw away the thesaurus and go back to Creative Writing 101"

Frank’s response: "No thanks Bess--no need for me to fall asleep during a Creative Writing 101 classroom session--I get plenty of schooling by being part of little innocuous outfits such as The Online Film Critics Society and the Internet Entertainment Writers Association, etc. And I have been quoted and had my movie-made assessments featured in various venues around the Internet. Still, I thank you for your misguided advice anyway. As for my throwing away my so-called thesaurus, I will if you promise that you will retrieve it and put it to good use for yourself. Is that a deal, Ms. Bess?"

Comments made to Frank about his review on SCOOBY DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASHED:

Michelle Fugel writes: “I went to see Scooby doo 2 with my friends and it was so good! It was humor mixed with a little bit of mystery. I was very cute and I should know, I'm 12 years old!”

Frank’s response: “Michelle, I am glad that you found the latest exploits of Scooby Doo and gang very enjoyable. And it’s nice to know that you’re very cute as well…wish I could say the same thing for this second installment of Scooby Doo 2! (smile)

Comments made to Frank about his review on YOU GOT SERVED:

Ashley Green writes: “you got served is the best movie you could ever see”.

Frank’s response: “My dearest Ashley, this is a rather bold and misleading statement, don’t you think? Man, I’d hate to think what the worst movie is that you ever saw! I think it’s safe to say that on top of my head I could name about 5,000 films that could defeat your logic for why YOU GOT SERVED doesn’t deserve that kind of high praise you’re giving it prematurely. Then again, I am sure that you could name 5,000 films that could be worst as well. Somehow I doubt that YOU GOT SERVED will be joining the classic cinema selections in the American Film Institute anytime soon. Again, that’s my humble opinion I suppose.”

NOTE: This comment was previously featured in “Frank(ly) Speaking…this is an added section to my response to Ms. Green’s thoughts

Comments to Frank about his lengthy write-up on The 76th Annual Academy Award Predictions:

Brittany Mazon writes: “Too long and acried out, we like it right to the point, and reading 10 billion paragraphs is broing! I'm sleepy now! Get to the point!”

Frank’s response: “So WE like it right to the point, huh Brittany? What do you mean by “we”? Do you have a frog in your pocket or what? Why don’t you say that YOU like it right to the point and let others decide what they prefer instead? And it’s funny because I haven’t received any static about my informative Academy Award prediction piece until you decided to offer your two cents worth of critical comments. Your insistence that my article is “too long and acried out” is so silly that I won’t justify it with an answer. So you’re sleepy when reading my stuff, huh? Do us all a favor and consider taking 40 winks on the busy highway. How’s that for getting to the point?”

NOTE: This comment was also featured in “Frank(ly) Speaking”…this is a continuous response to Ms. Mazon’s inquiry.

Comments made to Frank about…well, being a critical and conniving Frank!!:

Todd Mustang writes: “Ochieng, you are too critical and I feel that you and other critics have to be stopped right in your tracks. You are the reason why moviegoers are being deceived so much is because your brethren of film fools are out there destroying the hard work of artists everywhere. I know your game, Ochieng…you’re not fooling anyone and soon critics will become as extinct as the dinosaur. Long live Hollywood!”

Frank’s response: “Gee Todd, you are on to me! My mission is to sabotage the independent thinking of moviegoers everywhere thus creating havoc for down-in-your-luck Hollywood. What an insidious deviant I am! But first, my goal is to conquer Australia then I’ll corrupt the minds of the movie masses afterwards! Is it me or am I getting too old for this nonsense? Maybe it is easier to become a turnip farmer as opposed to reviewing movies, huh?”
