Fashion & Style News Discuss what's hip and upcoming. > Join TheWorldJournal.com community! Bruno Magli has a new designer August 24, 2003 Sharon Wachoub is to give European footwear house a face lift. The 32-year old Paris-based designer will infuse the Magli collection of shoes, handbags and belts with avant-garde chic and, according to Women's Wear Daily, she might even graduate to designing leatherwear for the 67-year-old fashion house. Wauchob also plans to present her three-year-old label on the Paris catwalk. We expect to see the positive influence of her work on sales figures this time next year. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Kate Moss stars in erotic video August 23, 2003 Kate Moss plays a pole dancer in a steamy new video for The White Stripes. The 29-year-old supermodel, who is no stranger to the medium having previously starred in promos for Primal Scream and the bizarre Har Mar Superstar, strips to a bikini and takes centre stage for the new black and white video in what could just be her sexiest role to date. But producers insist that the short, directed by Francis Ford's daughter Sofia Coppola, is all "very tasteful". | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Street wear companies hire top guns August 8, 2003 Kate Moss will appear in Zara autumn/winter 2003 ad campaign. Moss manages to make anything look seriously desirable - from a zip-fronted fake fur jacket to a skimpy, skinny op art dress. Images for the campaign, shot by Alfonso Ohnur, are bound to increase the already considerable fortune of Anancio Ortega, Zara founder and Spain's richest man. First stop for fashionista's looking for well cut work wear or flirty take offs of the latest collections from Balenciaga or Chloe, Zara's profits and sales are growing 30 per cent every year. Kate Moss also shines in the fall campaigns for Missoni and Stella McCartney. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Gucci spanker hits - literally July 17, 2003 Sterling silver handcuffs should have prepared us for designer Tom Ford's newest hot accessory idea -- the Gucci spanker. British tabloid The Sun, hardly known for being chaste, has gushed enthusiastically about the kinky designer sex toy, reporting that ever since a picture of it appeared in the UK version of Esquire, Gucci has been totally overwhelmed with calls seeking information on the not-yet-available leather strap. All the inquiries have apparently been from women. According to a Gucci spokesperson, the spanker will retail for about 160 euros in calfskin (which packs a softer punch). For the more decadent, it also comes in crocodile. Due to bow in all major Gucci stores in early September, judging by the reaction in the UK, stock may sell out in that country before it even hits the shop floor. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Hedi Slimane stays with Dior Homme July 15, 2003 Hedi Slimane has signed a new contact with LVMH, which means he is to stay on as menswear designer for Christian Dior. As well as continuing to create the menswear collections until 2006, the former assistant of Yves Saint Laurent will also take over as creative director for men's fragrances. Since Slimane joined Dior in 2001, sales of the menswear collections have risen more than 40 per cent. Hedi Slimane has recently been rumoured to have been considering leaving Dior, with talk of jealousy about the privileges of John Galliano, the creative director of womenswear, who had more influence on the brand development. Now the war seems to be over. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Kylie Minogue does couture July 8, 2003 Readily embracing of all things French, Kylie Minogue will appear in the front row at the Chanel haute couture show. She is expected to wear Chanel for her appearance, though not necessarily couture. Minogue's French fashion moment started with the torch song performance she gave in the Cafe de Flore in March for the 50th anniversary of Chloe. And it's not only Karl Lagerfeld who's been turned on to the Minogue magic. Lars Nilsson of Nina Ricci has also expressed a strong interest in dressing the star, particularly since rumors that Minogue is due to appear in a couture editorial for an unnamed publication. Other celebs expected at Chanel include Vanessa Paradis, model-turned-actress Diane Kruger, Chanel ambassador Anna Mouglalis, as well as Jeanne Moreau and Anouk Aimee. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Brody enjoys being a fashion star July 4, 2003 Adrien Brody is absolutely sure that his current A-list fashion status has nothing to do with his fetching face. "It's been interesting, all the attention from the fashion world," he told Womenswear Daily. "I'm flattered. I'm quite thin and so I think it's very convenient, because I easily fit into sample sizes". Since being named Best Actor at the Oscars in March, Brody has become an exclusive face of Ermenegildo Zegna. He was lately seen in the front row at the Fendi menswear show for spring/summer 2003 in Milan this week, accompanied by his mother. What a decent young fellow! | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Diamonds are the best Material Girl's friends July 3, 2003 Latest music video «Hollywood» of Madonna sees the Material Girl in fact soaking in diamonds. Jewels priced up to 25 million dollars were used during the shoot of the video. It's an absolute contrast to how she Madonna looked recently. The military-style outfits she wore to promote her last single, American Life, were quite masculine - in Jean-Paul Gaultier way - so it's nice to see Madonna looking glamorous again. She looks like Jean Harlow and Ginger Rogers. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Canadian Chameleon gets her star of fame June 30, 2003 She may never get out of bed for less than US$10,000, but she is still very Canadian at heart. Not surprising that Linda was among those stars who donated their allure to restore the image of Canada currently affected by SARS. And finally the catwalk queen was awarded in her home country. In true supermodel style she was honoured with her own star on the Walk of Fame in Toronto. These stars honour Canadians of accomplishment in the world of arts, entertainment and sport. Very slim and youthful Linda was draped in glamorous Grecian-style dress. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Lacroix Homme for men in fashion June 30, 2003 Christian Lacroix, the king of colours, often dubbed as a King of Illusions, is considering men - in fashion sense, being married and happy even after. Inspired by the media attention and buzz around menswear show in Milan and Paris, the French couturier announced a launch of a complete menswear collection. The range will be produced in conjunction with the Sadev group, which also works with Pierre Cardin, Renoma and Azzaro. Lacroix Homme line will be sold in speciality and department stores throughout France and the Middle East. This makes Lacroix, who currently creates collections for Pucci, Air France and many others, the busiest French designer. | Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com Create a virtual model of you April 9, 2003 Ever wondered what a 3-D model of yourself would look like? So what are you waiting for...let's go 3-D! | Ninawa Butrus, TheWorldJournal.com Who got the best hair-dress? Wella company's experts named the top well-known women who have the most stylish hair-dresses. Third place went to the supermodel Kate Moss. The second one belongs to "The Weakest Link" TV-show host Anne Robinson. Finally, Meg Ryan won the top of the list, became the number-one women with stylish hair-dress. | TheWorldJournal.com Valerie Campbell's first collection Valerie Campbell, mother of the top-model Naomi Campbell, has presented her first collection in London - spicy and colorful bikini. Before the show started, she told the audience that she finally found a business partner she needed. He is a rich man from Milan. While talking about her achievements, Valerie added that she would be very happy to create some clothes for her Queen. "She needs a nice color. I could do that for her" - said Valerie. | TheWorldJournal.com Lopez "V" Dress Jennifer Lopez seemed to be sticking to more than just Puff Daddy at the Grammy awards. Lopez wore a revealing blue and green printed Versace dress with a super deep "V" which opened to her navel and was held with a large broach. Although Versace officials and Lopez's people are not commenting on how she kept the sheer, blue and green dress in place fashion industry insiders know all too well. Lots of double sided tape which was probably sewn into the "V." Just like Puff Daddy the $10,000 dress is old headline news. The dress was worn by Donatella Versace in December and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell last month. Hopefully the focus on her dress will leave some of her former headlines "behind." | Fashion Planet Back to top |
