Boys II Men: cosmetic industry turns to male beauty

When it comes to a beauty regime, men tend to skip the whole fun part. A shower, shave and, if he's exceptionally vain, a bit of hair styling and a whiff of cologne. Well, the market is opening up, so men could become nearly as obsessed with looking good as their female counterparts. Several premium cosmetic brands have long ago introduced men's ranges, such as Clarins, Shiseido, Decleor, Clinique and Aramis. This autumn will see the launch of a men's range from Lancome. There is also an anticipated global premiere of the line that will have not only skincare products, but also make-up - for guys, not girls.

From mid-September Jean-Paul Gaultier is launching Tout Beau to "enhance masculinity" and "strengthen manly features". "Feeling handsome is a legitimate pleasure. It means having a face that radiates freedom, wellbeing, power, and energy. It offers men the chance to take another step toward this wellbeing by looking after their looks", - designer says.

It's basically full-on make-up line for men. The new line consists of some repackaged products from the Le Male range, such as the shower gel, deodorant and soap. To brighten and energise skin there's a Smooth Face, a complexion illuminator, and Better Than Tan bronzer, which comes complete with its own brush.

Let the fun begin: for eyes, there's the Sharp Eyes Pen, a double ended concealer and eye lining pencil in blue black, the Strong Nail Pen, to strengthen nails and give them a subtle shine, and, to top it all off, Sneaky Kiss lipstick in three shades plus a clear lip gloss to add shine.
