Street Man Hits The Brookline News Scene By Daniel Berman, TheWorldJournal.com Recently, I came up with a brand new programming idea: a live, on-location news oriented program. "Street Man" is a thirty-minute broadcast that will inform the television watching public of what is happening in their local community. The program will investigate situations, and events that are happening around Brookline. Like with many various T.V. news stations from around the world "Street Man" will also get the inside scoop, obtain information, and to share this knowledge with it's T.V. viewers. It will give residence a venue to speak their minds politically, socially, and have the opportunity to say what their thinking. It will provide a voice for the community as a valued resource to the public. I was looking through the time schedule of the programs that play at Brookline Access. I discovered that the station had no real news related shows. So, I wanted to build upon an idea that grabbed the concept between a "man on the street", and a "people's roundtable forum" that will encourage, and establish communication among viewers and get people involved with local news. The program will provide news, and information but it will also encourage the public to get involved with the show. In years past, our television station never really established a consistent news program. On a bi-weekly basis "Street Man" will air covering the events as they happen. The program will echo the people's voice, and get them seen and heard through one-on-one interviews, and reactions from the people who live in Brookline. The program will generate information through being on-location recording developing stories. (example) I'll be getting inside Brookline Town Hall and speaking with town officials who are working on the current issues around town. I'll be also including a segment on the program called "The News Desk" where I'll be giving highlights, and my concluding follow-up to each story. The program can be seen in two venues as a full length T.V. news broadcast, and as a "Brookline Look" segment. This particular segment, which will appear on the "Brookline Look", will be chosen as a highlight clip, or as an introduction to the program, which should make for some fascinating programming the show will debut in February 2003. © January 23, 2003 |
