Beach Bag - Accessory With Sunny Attitude By Julia Gabriel, TheWorldJournal.com
You've squeezed into that new skimpy bikini and threw on some shimmering self-tan, so don't spoil the effect by throwing your fancy towel and sunglasses into any old bag. This summer beach bags have tons of personality, and are just begging to get on display. The beach bag has gone glam, and you can't go far wrong with the bright colours, eye-catching prints and sequin-striped straw on offer (Gap, Banana Republic) . Forget about black or plain denim - these words don't say beach. Besides, summer is an excellent opportunity to go a bit wild and update your look without spending a fortune. An eccentric bag is perfect for people who shy away from this season's neon tops and patterned skirts. A word of caution: if you're wearing prints, adding a matching print bag can be a bit overpowering. That means, if you're wearing a flowery top don't go for a spotty bag. Avoid any fashion faux pas with with matching swimsuits. Really classy beach bags can brighten up your office outfits too - for example, Anya Hindmarsh is doing sophisticated carryalls with 50s-prints, which look stylish and do not smell sunblock. Another practical issue is beach bag's waterproof qualities. Some brands offer PVC fluoro shoppers with fabric handles, or at least suggest a waterproof lining. But there's only one must for the perfect beach bag - it's got to hold your sunbathing essentials. The bigger, the better. © July 5, 2003 |
