Plagiarism Today By Artashes Toumanov, TheWorldJournal.com
Three hundred twenty seven thousands links - this is the result of my search for "plagiarism" and "academic honesty" in one of the best Internet search engines "Google". It is interesting to notice that almost everywhere "plagiarism" means and defines similarly. One of my friends (an expert in philosophy) says about plagiarism: "a lie is a lie and always be". Not only I agree with him, but also every administration in every school and university around the globe. The question of Academic honesty is a very important issue in today's life. Due to high technologies and communications, it became easy to use some other sources except your own knowledge. In this case, if a student is using someone else's materials, he is required to identify them at the end of his own work. Many colleges and universities have the same punishment for that - if a student does not obey this law, he could fail the course or even dismissed from his studies. There are several web sites that help students to cheat and teachers to check their students. Here is the list of web sites I've found on the web: For students: a1-termpaper.com 123helpme.com a2ztermpaper.com termpapers911.com For teachers: TurnItIn.com Plagiarism.org Recommended Web Sites: AskMe.com ExpertsExchange.com Dear students, remember just one thing - it is important not to cheat, because even if you do, there is always an easy way to find that out. © February 12, 2001 |
