| Material Girl Gets Married By Ninawa Butrus, TheWorldJournal.com Superstar Madonna, 42, and British film director Guy Ritchie, 32, were married on Friday 22nd of December. The wedding took place at Skibo Castle, located in the Scottish highlands, a short time after the baptism of 4-month-old baby son Rocco at Dornoch Cathedral. It was a media-frenzy as over 1000 members of the media were camped outside Skibo Castle in the freezing cold awaiting to catch snaps of the happy couple. This was undeniably hard to do, because of the numbers of security who were all over the place, some even equipped with heat-seeking devices, to stop anyone from intruding. The wedding was not formally announced until hours after it had taken place. Celebrity guests included Sting, Donatella Versace, Gwyneth Paltrow who is said to be Maid of Honour, Robin Williams, Rupert Everett, Brad Pitt and Stella McCartney, who has designed the wedding dress. The wedding ceremony was performed by a Minister for the Church of Scotland, Susan Brown, who is said to have also officiated the baptism. For the baptism of baby Rocco, Madonna was in a long, double-breasted cream coat with her hair tied back in a bun, topped with a veil. Two men were arrested and later released for recording baby Rocco's baptism. One of the men hid for more than 24 hours in the loft of the Church's organ. © January 1, 2001 |
