| Gordon Moore Leaves Intel By Dan Calloway, TheWorldJournal.com Gordon Moore, one of Silicon Valley's most influential and respected individuals, officially resigned from the board of Santa Clara, California-based Intel Corporation last Thursday. Moore's legacy will live on in Moore's law, his 1965 pronouncement that chip performance doubles every 18 months. Moore's resignation at an Intel board meeting follows a mandatory retirement he set for directors of the company at 72 years of age. He will still attend meetings and provide advice but can no longer vote on company moves. Moore's departure marks the end of an era. He co-founded Intel in 1968. © June 4, 2001 |
