What to Wear to the New Year Party By Ninawa Butrus, TheWorldJournal.com
As the Year 2000 slowly comes to an end, the fashion world is just heating up. New Years parties are the hip and happening events scheduled on everyone's calendars, because it is usually at these events that people are most likely to remember the year that went by. The triumphs, the tragedies... all are forgotten at the New Years party and resolutions are made while dancing the night away. But what do I wear to the New Years party? That seems to be the million-dollar question on everybody's minds lately. The answer is simply leather! Leather is the 'numero uno' trend being used in the catwalks and fashion shows for all the top international designers. Leather not only looks incredibly sexy, but it is a cool fashion item that every girl should have. Leather dresses, especially one shoulder ones, are "in". There are a hundred tops to choose from if you want the pants or skirt, but the main ones catching eyes and turning heads are singlet tops, strapless, halter necks and one-shoulder tops and they look incredibly hot if they're shiny or sequined. To accessorize the outfit, a studded belt or diamond belt is the way to go. Heels are ok, but there'll be a lot of dancing, so opt for something comfortable, shiny and strappy. For those who are living in hotter conditions, or experiencing the summer heat like Australia, denim is for you. Every store is going through a denim phase, so Australian girls, check out stores like Portmans, Sportsgirl, and Deeva. Denim halter dresses, halter-tops, pants and mini-skirts are the "in" for Australia. If you're not going for top to bottom denim, then a glitzy gold halter-neck top or shimmery singlet would go well with a denim bottom. Don't forget the diamante or studded belt and your shiny, strappy heels. For the hot heels, Australian girls check out Shoo Biz. That's all the fashion advice for this year, so have a wild time partying. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. © December 25, 2000 |
